He earned a Master's degree in Sport Administration/Management from the prestigious University of Tehran in 2014, combining his athletic prowess with academic excellence. Fluent in both Persian and English, Abedini has represented Iran on the world stage with distinction and grace.
A devoted family man, he is married to Narges Faal and is a proud father of two daughters, balancing his demanding athletic and coaching career with family life.
As a sabre specialist, Mojtaba mastered one of the three disciplines of modern fencing. The sabre is a cutting and thrusting weapon, requiring lightning-fast reflexes and strategic thinking - truly embodying his famous quote: "Fencing is like chess - every move requires strategy."
In 2012, Mojtaba Abedini made history as the first Iranian fencer to compete at the Olympic Games, opening doors for future generations of Iranian fencers.
His remarkable 4th place finish at the 2016 Rio Olympics showcased his world-class abilities and brought international recognition to Iranian fencing. This achievement remains one of the highest Olympic placements for an Iranian fencer.

Served as strategic advisor to the President of Iran Fencing Federation for over a decade.
Head coach of LUGI fencing club in Lund, Sweden, and coach of Sweden's national cadet & junior team.
Coach of Turkey's national cadet, junior, and senior teams, bringing his Olympic experience to develop Turkish fencing talent.
Currently serving as coach of Austria's national team and head coach at Wiener-Sport-Club, one of the country's most prestigious sports clubs.
Drawing from his experience as a pioneer and champion, Abedini emphasizes technical excellence, strategic thinking, and mental fortitude. He believes that fencing, much like chess, requires not just physical prowess but also tactical intelligence and psychological resilience.
